More About Me
Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Sandhu graduated from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, in 1988 and moved to Finland shortly thereafter. Over a distinguished career spanning more than 36 years in Finland and the United Kingdom, he has made significant contributions to both paediatrics and child psychiatry.
Dr. Sandhu became the first Pakistani physician to complete specialist training in Finland, qualifying as a specialist in Paediatrics in 2000 and subsequently in Child Psychiatry in 2002. At the time, he was most likely the only physician with this unique combination of dual specialisation.
He worked as a specialist doctor at Tampere University Hospital on a permanent contract before later serving in a senior leadership role at Birmingham Children's Hospital, including as Head of Department.
His principal areas of interest and expertise include neuropsychiatry, cross-cultural psychiatry, and the mental health of immigrant populations. Throughout his career, Dr. Sandhu has conducted research, published scientific papers, and presented his work at numerous international conferences. His clinical, academic, and leadership experience spans more than three decades across two healthcare systems.
